Changing environmental and climatic conditions challenge your forage production. Grasses that can better handle spring and early summer drought will result in a healthy and high yielding crop.
Westerwoldicum is the annual type of Italian ryegrass and the fastest growing and highest yielding grass specie. It can reach heights up to 100cm especially on more fertile soils. Its extremely fast growth and its response to nitrogen make it very suitable for emergency crop and namely silage production when high production of hay or silage is required within 3-6 months after sowing. Differences between diploid and tetraploid varieties are small. Diploid varieties tend to grow more dense and have a higher dry matter content whereas tetraploid varieties tend to have a higher water content and a higher sugar content.
High milk or meat yields are essential for running a profitable farm.
The key to this is to keep your herds well fed with home-grown forage.
With best in class ForageMax mixtures you increase the
nutritional value of your forage and silage.
