With changing environmental and climatic conditions, turf management has become more demanding. We offer grasses that can better handle spring and early summer drought.
Agrostis capillaris, commonly known as brown top bentgrass, is a perennial grass species native to Europe and parts of Asia but now found in many temperate regions. It typically grows in well-drained soils, thriving in sandy and acidic conditions. This species prefers full sun to partial shade and is often found in habitats such as meadows, coastal dunes, and disturbed areas. The grass has fine, narrow leaves that are usually about 1–5 mm wide and can reach a height of 15–40 cm. Its flowering occurs in the summer, producing small, delicate inflorescences—often purple to green—on slender stalks. The seed heads have a tufted appearance and can disperse seeds effectively, allowing the grass to easily colonize new areas. Agrostis capillaris is valued for its use in lawns, golf courses, and erosion control due to its tolerance for low fertility and ability to establish quickly. It can withstand moderate foot traffic and is known for its aesthetic appeal, providing a lush green cover. Overall, this species is adaptable and plays a significant role in various ecosystems.
The Masterline® mixtures are designed for golf courses, stadiums, parks, etc. The mixtures consist of very fine-leafed and dense-growing, quality varieties. For enhanced performance two varieties of each species are always used in the mixtures.
