Hard-Wearing and Dense Turf in Focus at the DP World Tour – Without Pesticides

As the DP World Tour rolls into Furesø Golf Club in North Zealand in Denmark this weekend, it's not just the players who are performing at the highest level – the course is, too. And that’s no coincidence. Furesø Golf Club has taken a sustainable approach to course management and is now in its fifth consecutive year of pesticide-free maintenance.
Hard-Wearing and Dense Turf in Focus at the DP World Tour – Without Pesticides

This sets high demands on both the turf quality and the expertise of the greenkeeping team. A pesticide-free setup withour herbicides and fungicides requires grass varieties that are not only resilient and low-maintenance but also capable of withstanding climatic challenges and disease pressure – all without compromising a high quality of playability.

At DLF, we’re proud to contribute with grass solutions that thrive under low-input conditions, developed specifically to meet these exacting standards. Our plant breeders work continuously to develop robust turf varieties with excellent wear tolerance, quick establishment, disease resistance, and the ability to withstand drought, heat, cold, and heavy rainfall.

Masterline Varieties at Play Across the Course
At Furesø Golf Club, several of DLF’s specially developed turf blends are in use:

  • Greens are overseed with Masterline Red Fescue, a mixture of six hand-picked top varieties chosen for their drought tolerance, resilience, and disease resistance. This blend is ideal for both new establishment and overseeding, providing a dense and healthy surface – even under low nutrient input and minimal irrigation.
  • Fairways are overseeded with a combination of Sheep’s fescue and 4turf perennial ryegrass, creating a dense and durable sward that can withstand both drought and disease pressure. Sheep’s fescue doesn’t go dormant like red fescue and performs well under low-input conditions, helping fairways stay greener for longer.
  • Tees and foregreens are overseeded with Masterline Overseeding, a robust mixture of four perennial ryegrass varieties and three red fescues that offer fast establishment, high wear tolerance, and a cutting height down to just a few millimetres.

A Partnership for Sustainable Golf Courses
Furesø Golf Club demonstrates that top-quality playing conditions and sustainability can go hand in hand. It takes skilled professionals – and the right turf varieties – to make that happen. DLF is proud to be part of the solution, delivering grass that enables top-class course management without the use of pesticides.

We wish Furesø Golf Club and all players a fantastic tournament – and extend a sincere tribute to the club’s greenkeeping team for their outstanding work and commitment to sustainable golf.
