Interestingly, this is also true for plant diseases. The first six months of 2020 became the year where everyone (!) was forced to learn at least some basic processes of epidemiology of viruses, a field of academic study previously reserved for pathology experts. So that is one productive takeaway from this strange year that is not wasted.
