PORUBKA likes to have a good winters rest
It has low spring growth that we turn into a big advantage when used as an undersown crop. It is a slow starter in spring, so it does not compete too much with the main crop.
This is what makes PORUBKA such a special catch crop.
Tested as maize catch crop the trial showed that with PORUBKA used as catch crop the maize yield was as good as the control maize (without catch crop).
This means no yield depression for the main crop using when using PORUBKA as a catch crop!
Good yield in autumn
Regardless of the lower initial growth, PORUBKA does accelerate later, making up for the missing spring over the season.
When the main crop is harvested, PORUBKA starts to produce, giving a nice and big crop in the autumn and the following spring.
In this way a farmer can benefit from the catch crop in addition to the main crop value.
