Kimber/Lolium perenne

Early Heading Diploid Perennial Ryegrass
Safe Forage Supply

Very high 1st cut despite late end of early group heading
High digestibility in both grazing and conservation management
Good resistance to crown rust
High ground cover for early variety

Number 1 in 1st cut DM Yield

4 days later heading than our actual top variety SPIRA, KIMBER nevertheless shows a 5% higher yield in the 1st cut. For an early diploid this means a huge improvement in terms of flexibility of use and forage supply security. In fact going towards extremes in earliness (very early or very late heading) also increases vulnerability.

Digestible From A to Z

Whether cut frequently as in a grazing management or allowed to approach ear emergence, KIMBER has shown excellent digestibility figures.

Covers the Ground and Fights the Rust

With a score of 7 for ground cover KIMBER equals the ground cover of many much later varieties. Dual purpose exploitation is thus a realistic opportunity. General disease resistance and rust resistance in particular is good.
